Sexuality & Reproduction

The people of Cerolia live in a society where all the individual races are single-sex and reproduce using Symbiont Crystals (AKA Birthing Crystals). All of the races are compatible with one and other, forsake the Mek’Vatir.

Reproduction

Symbiont Crystals are grown throughout the planet, and are offered to prospective parents who are Betrothed or those who are willing to be bound together by law. Birthing a child in Cerolian culture is a deeply bonding experience, and every major government on the planet has strict laws regarding care of the child once they emerge from the crystal.

Activating a Symbiont Crystal requires at minimum two active parties who contribute their spiritual energy equally. This is a minimum requirement, as three or more individuals can come together to create life. The only true prerequisite is that all participating people be completely willing in their actions, as an unwilling or forced party will not be able to activate a Symbiont Crystal. Traces of energy provided in a child’s birth can be traced back to their parents as well, and legal actions can be taken in all major Cerolian nations against those who contribute and abandon the child.

When a child is being born, they get their spiritual signature from their parents. However, their race is decided by the crystal itself based on all those who provide energy. If an Aluni and an Edoraii decide to have a child together, both race’s outcome is equally likely. Mixing breeds is an impossibility with spiritual reproduction.

A child’s Attunement is impossible to guess before birth until the patterns visibly emerge on their skin/fur, as Symbiont Crystals are always clear in color.

Gender identity

Masculine, Feminine, and Neutral pronouns are generally used on Cerolia to refer to someone’s overall race as oppose to their individual birth sex. As a social construct, Gender on Cerolia is neutral overall. Clothing, makeup, and colors are impartial throughout society and whether an individual is more feminine or masculine in their daily life is completely their prerogative. Cerolian culture, throughout the planet, has developed a deep respect for an individual’s right to look how they wish outside of military uniforms.

sexuality

Cerolian culture is one that allows for all forms of romantic love, between any individual, without question by the masses. Everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to romantic partners and betrothal, however, manipulation of “The Aura” (AKA Pleasure Energy) can be seen as either platonic or romantic depending on the circumstances.

Massages and playing into another individual’s fetishes are seen as deeply platonic activities. These types of things are generally reserved for close friends, though there are places (Pleasure Dens, Tranquility Dens, Aura Spas) that specialize in this sort of sensual manipulation. It is important to note that manipulation of another individual’s Aura requires absolute consent, which can be revoked on a whim. In the event of a revocation, any further attempts to manipulate the individual’s spirit will simply be futile.

Kissing and fully embracing another individual while manipulating their aura is considered an intimately romantic activity. While there are instances in which platonic friends will do such things, it’s generally considered something reserved for those who are betrothed.

BETROTHAL

This refers to the legal binding of two or more individuals in their lives, as recognized by the government of their respective nation. Betrothal is usually a prerequisite for birthing a child, though couples are allowed to do so without a betrothal contract. All individuals responsible for contributing to a Symbiont Crystal are considered a child’s parents in every government on the planet, regardless of betrothal status.

Betrothal is considered to be the ultimate ritual of romance among Cerolians, though it’s not reserved for only two individuals. Polyamory is an accepted practice and recognized throughout the world, and is practiced just as frequently as monogamy.

Relationships are complicated, people are complicated, and Cerolian culture embraces all interests with equal love - provided they do not physically harm others.

In addition

Destructive fetishes that go along with an individual’s sensual manipulation are both severe taboos, and in many cases illegal, in every governmental body. Underage romantic sensual manipulation or exploitation (under the age of 12 cycles/18 years) and the harming of other living beings for sensual gain (Forsake the Mek’Vatir) is strictly forbidden and can easily result in legal recourse.

In short. So long as someone isn’t harming anyone and keeping their interests to fantasy between adult parties, they will be accepted and respected by their peers without issue.
